2010 Operation Comfort Cobra Road Rally
Road Rally Instructions are available at the on-site registration table at the hotel for tax-deductible $10 donation to Operation Comfort. The Instruction Sheets include the driving direction as well as questions to be answered along the way. You will earn points for answering questions correctly. Please write your answers on the instruction sheets in the space provided. The team/car with highest total points will be the winner. Should there be a tie; the winners will be determined by a random drawing.
You are free to run the route any time Thursday, Friday or Saturday. It is not a timed event and we will not have a formal start. This way we have the ability to work around any undesirable weather that might roll through the area. However, to compete for a trophy, you must turn in your instruction sheets and any items you collected along the route by 6 PM Saturday evening to the registration desk.
This year the rally will have stops at the following places:
- The Gristmill River Restaurant and Bar in Gruene, TX is very popular and is on the first half of the route.
- The Commemorative Air Force is one of the stops on the second half of the rally. They may have planes out for photo opportunities. They expect to have folks there between 11 AM and 5 PM on Friday the 26th. Please take note of these times if you planned on seeing the planes and taking some pictures.
- There is a stop at Dick’s Classic Garage, a new automobile museum in the San Marcos vicinity. This stop is on the second half of the route. There are about 60 classic cars in the museum. There is an admission charge if you wish to visit the museum.
- Harris Hill racetrack, one of the stops on the second half of the rally should have their gates open from 9 AM to 5 PM on Friday the 26th and Saturday the 27th.
- Approximately half way through the route there is an opportunity to return back to the hotel. At approximately the 31 mile mark the instructions mention how to get back to the hotel.
This year’s route is a little shorter by about 5 miles. The route could be run in about an hour and a half. We suggest taking your time and making the most of the Rally.
We have checked and re-checked mileage but as you can imagine everyone’s odometer may read a little different. You may need to make a couple of adjustments along the course.
Note: Since the route was designed a couple of speed bumps have appeared on the route. Read your route instructions carefully. The instructions warn you when you are getting close. Proceed with caution and you should not have a problem with them.
Please follow all traffic laws and have fun. If you have any questions or problems on the road feel free to call Rich Bassemir 512-940-1075.
